Today marks a big day for Zippy Friends... Pinky and the Easter Zippy were the first two Zippy Friends to be sold! A family friend bought Pinky a teacher from my school district bought the Easter Zippy. It was an exciting day for all the Zippy Friends as they wished Pinky and the Easter Zippy good luck on their way to new homes!

Also, I'm waiting for the business cards that I designed (and by "I designed" I mean "Benn thought of and I drew") Check it out!

Open up your mind

The Easter Zippy (in HD!) from Zippy Friends on Vimeo.

Since Easter is approaching the Easter Zippy has come out to play! And by play, I mean steal your Easter eggs. You see, once upon a time he was full of organs just like the other Zippy Friends, but he loved all the colorful Easter eggs that people began hiding around town. So he began to search from the Easter eggs himself. Every time he found an egg he would take out one of his organs and leave it in place of the egg. This way he would have room to keep all the eggs that he found and still leave something behind for the children to find. So if you ever find a little felt heart or intestines under a bush in your yard, you will know that the Easter Zippy has been there!

More photos to come.

Secret projects

It's tough working on something for your number one fan. It has to be super secret because as soon as you post anything about it, they are the first to find out! #1 Fan's birthday is March 24, so we here at Zippy Friends have been working diligently on her gift. Now that we have given it to her, we can share it with everyone else!

What a mischievous little duo they are.

Of course, they wouldn't be Zippy Friends if all their organs didn't come out!

It is nice to have a friend to help put yourself back together.
Happy Birthday to Zippy Friends' #1 Fan!

April showers...

As the weather begins to warm up and the snow begins to melt, I can't help but think about spring. One thing that I look forward to is RAIN! I'm so tired of snow. Stormy Zippy is a direct result of those wishes.

Stormy Zippy is a cloud Zippy that is full of soft and cuddly rain drops! Stormy loves bowling and skydiving.

I am very pleased with Stormy. I have some other "springy" ideas to work on next. I have also started a graphic version of the creation of Zippy Friends. So be sure to tune in for updates!

Shiver me timbers!

Introducing Bonehead Zippy, the latest (and may I dare, strangest) Zippy Friend! Bonehead is an avid sailor and a huge fan of Pirates of the Caribbean.

This bizarre little creation turned out just as silly as I expected. I decided that the only organ appropriate for a giant skull was a giant brain! At first I made a brain that was too small, but the second one was perfect! But it didn't really leave room for separate eyeballs... so I sewed them right onto the brain.

I think the brain ended up cuter than the outside, but then again, who said Zippy Friends had to be cute. Pirates aren't cute!

Aaaarrg! Zippy out.

The WOW Factor

A few weeks ago, the weathermen were predicting a "significant snow event," so naturally I stopped to pick of necessities in preparation for a snow day. I got the essentials... milk, bread, hot chocolate and Zippy supplies! It turned out the weathermen were right. We had over a foot of snow and an unexpected 4 day weekend. I, however, spent the whole weekend making soup and playing video games and have only now returned to that bag of Zippy supplies.

As I rummaged through all the things I bought in my hoping-desperately-for-a-snow-day frenzy, I rediscovered this:

I can't imagine what kind of market there is for jolly roger/neutral tie-dye fleece, but then again... I bought it. I'm not sure what I was planning on making out of this fabulous fleece fabric when I bought it, but Benn suggested cutting out the skulls and using them as a zippy head of sorts.

So that has become my current Zippy project. I still haven't quiet figured out what to put inside of a giant head-zippy, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Be sure to check back for the excited reveal of whatever ridiculous plush creature I create out of this crazy fleece.

Once upon a time...

In the world of plush everything is soft and cuddly. Except for meteors. When a meteor unexpectedly tore right through the middle of everything and everyone, these little guys picked themselves up and put themselves back together again with zippers and became Zippy Friends. Now the world of plush is full of Zippy Friends and Zippy Friends are full of soft and cuddly guts!

Welcome to the first blog entry of Zippy Friends. Zippy Friends are unique plush creations that completely unzip to reveal their insides. They strike a balance of the cute and the absurd. The quote one fan, they are "equal parts disgusting and awesome." The Zippy Friend nation is relatively young, only 3 members at the moment. (I guess that makes it more like a club than a nation.)

Hopefully their population will grow and thrive as people do double-takes and try to figure out exactly what these little guys are all about. I've got lots of great ideas and can't wait to keep sewing, so check back to keep up to date on all that's happening is the world of Zippy Friends!

If you would like to purchase your own Zippy Friend visit our Etsy site at www.ZippyFriends.etsy.com. You can also become a fan of Zippy Friends on Facebook. (Yes, even plush creatures have Facebook pages now.)
